OUR FIRM

Rivero Palmer & Mestre engages exclusively in a litigation practice focused primarily on commercial litigation, including international litigation and arbitration, and white collar criminal defense. The firm is AV rated by Martindale Hubbell.  The firm represents clients before the Courts of the United States and the State of Florida, as well as in domestic and international arbitration proceedings. The firm’s practice focuses primarily on representing corporate and institutional clients in complex commercial disputes including financial institution matters, intellectual property disputes, unfair competition, anti-trust, breach of contract claims, securities actions, healthcare litigation, and litigation and arbitration relating to Latin American trade and investment. The firm’s attorneys have collectively litigated a number of civil, SEC regulatory, international arbitration, and criminal fraud matters. Due to their experience litigating complex commercial disputes and white collar criminal defense matters, the firm's attorneys have been appointed as receivers and have served as counsel to receivers.  The firm’s attorneys have also conducted internal corporate investigations in the United States and in foreign countries for Fortune 500 companies and have represented clients in Congressional investigations and hearings.

The partners have substantial experience in the litigation and trial of sophisticated commercial disputes and business controversies involving regional, national, and international corporations and financial institutions. For example, the partners have been responsible, including as trial counsel, for the litigation of several of the highest profile matters in South Florida, including such major, complex litigation as Demerutis Chaul, et al. v. Abu-Ghazaleh, Fresh del Monte Produce, Inc., et al., the Bank of Credit and Commerce International matter, the General Development Corporation real estate fraud controversy, and multi-district litigation involving the HMO industry.

The partners also have wide-ranging experience in international litigation and arbitration in both English and Spanish. The partners, associates, and support staff are fully bilingual in English and Spanish. The firm also has attorneys who are fluent in Portuguese. The partners have served as lead counsel in numerous international arbitration matters before the International Chamber of Commerce, the American Arbitration Association, and the International Centre for Dispute Resolution and in international litigation matters before the Courts of the United States and the State of Florida. Their clients have included U.S. multi-national corporations that conduct business in Latin America or Europe, and non-U.S. corporations doing business in the United States and abroad. The partners also have served as arbitrators in international arbitrations administered by the International Chamber of Commerce and the International Centre for Dispute Resolution of the American Arbitration Association.
